Why every couple should declare religion to conduct a wedding in Bali?
Every couple choosing to marry in Bali must declare their religious orientation. Indonesia recognises five religions Islam, Christianity-Catholic, Christianity-Protestant, Buddhism, and Hinduism. A wedding in Indonesia cannot be performed and legally admitted without declaring one of these five religions. If the couple are of a different religious orientation, then either the bride or groom should change her or his religion to ensure that they are of the same faith. In Indonesia, the Civil Registry Office in Bali will not consider any other religions aside from the five religions mentioned above.

Is it possible to experience a blessing ceremony if I have already legally performed my wedding in my own country?
Yes, this is possible. A Balinese blessing ceremony is not only for followers of the Hindu faith but for anyone who wants their marriage to be blessed in the local tradition. It is the perfect experience for couples who are already legally married or those choosing to bless their union during their time on the island. It is important to remember that this is not a legal wedding ceremony and no legal certification will be issued afterwards. The ceremony is performed by a Balinese celebrant called Pemangku. He will pray for the prosperity and continuance of the union. The couples have the unique opportunity to wear Balinese costume during a blessing ceremony.
